3 Tips for Falling Asleep
Ever lay in bed watching the clock tick away, wishing you could fall deep into sleep already? You’re not alone. We’ve all been there — nights when rest feels elusive. Well, tailored just for you, here are some simple tricks to help you catch those Zzzs.
Stick to a Schedule: There’s nothing your body loves more than a consistent routine. Establishing one allows your systems to find their rhythm and automatically shut off when the time comes around. Additionally, a timetable is beneficial when waking up as well; after sticking to the same schedule for so long, it proves to become more of a habit than a dread.
Mind Relaxation: I find this method to work the best for me. Often when I lay in bed, I resort to an activity that not only I love, but tires me out: reading. Whether it be a hard copy, or a fan-made fiction online, it does the job. However, if you deem reading doesn’t work out for you, there are always other options. A few include practicing yoga or old-school meditation, or even just a hobby you enjoy doing like drawing.
Wind Down: Maybe you prefer a method where you don’t do any of the work and simply drift off. You could open any music streaming service, and listen to your favorite playlist while you daze off. Or rather, you’d twist the lever to your tub and take a warm bath to manually signal to your body it’s time to go to sleep. On days when your anxiety picks at you, jot down any worries or to-dos to clear your mind.
Remember, good sleep is a journey and isn’t easy for everyone. Be patient with yourself when you explore these tips. Sweet dreams!
