With online friends, you usually meet through a shared hobby, so there isn’t any other icebreaker to pursue a conversation with them.
Having friends with similar interests, whether in person or online is great for your mental health. Online friends are a great choice for people who struggle to maintain conversations, making them feel more at ease interacting with others. It’s also easier to vent amongst strangers with emotional and personal struggles. Especially if you’re someone who may be homeschooled or restricted from making in-person friends.
Though, there are still safety concerns with online friends that should be considered before you share anything too personal: like your address, school, or last name. If any “friend” says anything that makes you uncomfortable, it should be reported to your parents for precautions.
