Are AP Classes Worth It?

AP (advanced placement) classes are always pushed by faculty, but are they worth it?

AP classes offer the potential to earn college credits and save money from skipping intro classes. You’re slowly losing a semester into your college and will quickly be able to further your studies in graduate school.

College admissions prefer students who have experienced AP classes because they’re more prepared and handle the workload much better than students who haven’t.

Although there are many benefits to AP classes, sometimes it’s not for everyone. The drastic change in workload will cause unnecessary stress. The small amount of time required to complete a full AP exam is overwhelming. Some students may primarily focus on their AP grades, letting the rest drop.

Only take AP classes in subjects you’re the most comfortable in because you’ll benefit more from the AP class if you pass the exam in the end.
