Mean Girls
Have you watched the new Mean Girls Movie? I watched it last Saturday and these are my thoughts on it.
- Firstly, this movie is based on the Broadway musical, so it is a musical. I’ve noticed many fans hate the movie because they’re singing, so keep that in mind before buying tickets. I’ve never watched the Broadway musical, but I found that the songs in the movie are pretty corny because of the random placements, but Regina George’s songs were pretty good. They’re very catchy compared to the other songs. Though, if you’re not interested in musicals at all there are not many, but you might hate it.
- My favorite character in the show was Karen. People say that her character was cringey because of how dumbfounded she is, but it was pretty spot on to the original movie. I think her weirdness makes her a more kinder character.
- The new movie is much more diverse is similar to the original, as Karen is of South Asian Hawaiian and Hispanic descent.
- Many of the new movies nowadays are so forcibly relatable keeping the new Mean Girls movie relevant to the original with a few recent slang which is nice.
- The actors felt unrealistic when acting their parts, Regina felt like she was forcing herself to be in that role, and was a little unnatural. Same with Janis, I felt like it was overly dramatic, the Broadway scene is like that, but I was not a fan of it personally.
- The ad placement promoting elf products was slightly obvious, but not overly like social media portrays it to be. It’s pretty easy not to see it and let it disturb your attention from the movie.
- The movie is a little explicit, there were a couple of younger kids watching, but I would avoid bringing your younger sibling under 13 because it can get awkward quickly.
Overall, I still recommend the movie. It was a corny but fun and cute movie you can watch with your friends!
I saw this movie and I saw the musical I liked both
