Gen Alpha and Skincare

I’m sure many have seen those Christmas wishlists for Gen Alpha girls filled with skin care products. They’re very attached to making videos moisturizing their skin from watching influencers always putting similar products on themselves. They’ve already caused an increase in sales in the skin department that got the attention of the CEO of Elf.

But some of these promoted products aren’t healthy for their skin at all as they don’t have acne or skin problems yet. Some parents have complained about their children getting rashes and swelling. Dermatologists are very concerned with mixing products with acids and retinol. Especially since the products they’re getting are very expensive, the most popular is a drunk elephant.

Though, it’s lighthearted and this is just the effects of exposure to the internet at a young age, following trends and we have had our own as well. At a young age, they’re not conscious of boundaries in public. Sephora employees have said they’re rude and make messes with the testers. I’ve seen countless TikToks videoing tweens blocking areas and making fun of other customers working there.

My opinion on the situation is that as long as their parents are conscious of the product’s ingredients accompanying them while shopping and not blocking the whole store, it’s fine. I don’t agree with people recording minors, even rude minors because the internet is notorious for doxing if the faces aren’t blocked.
