Child Exploitation/Sexualization On Social Media
(TW: Child Exploitation/Sexualization)
Recently, I’ve seen many stitches of a mom posting her toddler on TikTok, I’ll leave her @ out. She has 17 million followers on TikTok and you just kind of ask yourself why, it’s just a kid. Until you watch the videos and you see the way the mom posts in a thumbnail consistently. Most of the posts can be depicted with a second meaning, like the kid eating a cucumber or having her legs open. Then you read the comments that are filled with grown men commenting nasty stuff. That’s most of the comments, the other part is filled with angry people commenting on the mother’s actions. I would understand if there’s one post like this and people told her nicely about how people are using her videos of her kid inappropriately. She just replies with if you don’t like her videos, block her, and makes no effort to change her content because each video gets millions of views and it’s been like this for a year.
It’s not just her, but many influencers use their child as a form of income and don’t care how they do it. You would see YouTube families going to jail for child abuse and it’s disturbing. There’s nothing against showing your child on the internet, but if you can’t do it safely or Chick-fil-A is unable to give some sort of consent, then you’re better off leaving them off. There are so many creeps on the internet that will sexualize even the most innocent videos, no wonder celebrities are always hiding their children from that attention. It’s really important to consider this stuff and be conscious of all of your content. Don’t give anyone your information because you don’t know who’s behind the screen.
