Create A Healthy Morning Routine For Yourself !
‘A healthy lifestyle is important for everyone to maintain.’ This is a theme a person is constantly reminded of whilst approaching their adult years, and it’s definitely true, but can sometimes be seen as an overwhelming task for many people. The way to avoid this anxiety though, is just to view it in small baby steps. The truth is that it’s almost impossible to make a significant change in your lifestyle overnight, but instead, it will be much easier just to implement small changes by the day. Want to know the best place to start implementing changes? You guessed it. It’s in the title! Your morning. Every morning is a new day, full of potential; and since we were all lucky enough to wake up and see another beautiful one, it’s only right that we chase all the opportunities each new day gives us. So when you wake up, try to keep your morning as healthy as possible so that you’re all set for productivity and success throughout the rest of your day. Here are a few tips to help you win each morning of yours :
- Get Enough Sleep
We want to start off each day fully energized, to do whatever task comes our way. This can’t be done with half of our brains dozed off. And sure there’s always the argument that you can go without sleep. But for how long? And alright, you’re probably thinking you can wait until the weekend to catch up on sleep, right? Not really. Even if you somehow believe your mind doesn’t need the rest, your body definitely does. Throughout the week you should definitely keep up with some kind of physical activity which should be getting you tired. Also, getting enough sleep doesn’t mean sleeping throughout half of your day, instead, you should aim to set an ideal amount of sleep for yourself. Somewhere between 6 – 8 hours is usually the way to go. And please, even if you still feel sleepy, please don’t hit snooze. When you have to wake up, wake up. Nobody likes to get up early, but by not hitting snooze, you’re causing discipline in your mind, first thing in the morning. So do yourself a favor and get the sleep. Do it for your mind and body. Sleep on time, and don’t hit the snooze button.
- Make Your Bed
This one may seem like a petty task, but it really isn’t worth being overlooked. By making your bed, you’re not only lowering your stress level, but you’re also causing productivity to become a common theme throughout your day. It is a small task that takes almost no effort, but because it’s petty and yet you still did it, your brain begins feeling a sense of accomplishment already: in one of the first tasks it’s done in the day. This will cause your brain to just like all things, want more of this feeling that felt so good. Now, just because you made your bed, your brain is a bit more ready to do all the small petty things necessary to achieve the successful day we all desire. And plus, nobody likes to sleep on an unmade bed anyway.
- Drink A Cup Of Water
If you’re getting your proper sleep, which hopefully you are, that means you’re technically going for around 6 – 8 hours without food or water. So take some time to replenish and energize yourself with a cup of water. It’ll go a long way.
- Have a Nutritious Breakfast
We’d all love to have a bowl of ‘Cocoa Krispies’ or a stack of ‘Aunt Jemima’s’ pancakes for breakfast every morning, but the truth is that these sugary breakfasts won’t do you much good. First of all, they cause unnecessary spikes in your blood sugar levels, and having too many of those can lead to some health problems down the road. Secondly, they have too many calories, especially when comparing the number of calories to the number of proteins. They outweigh each other significantly, and that imbalance can’t be good for whatever body goals a person desires. Lastly, they’re not really keeping you full. Even though nobody just eats a single serving of pancakes, cereal, or French toast, we still end up feeling hungry after a while. This is because our mind likes sugar and by giving it a taste of it at the beginning of the day, it begins to crave and feel hungry just for more sugar throughout the rest of the day. Of course, this then causes an unhealthy diet of a lot of sugar throughout the entire day. Instead, aim to start off your day with something that’s high in protein, meets your caloric limit, is less in sugar, and can of course keep you full. Some good options are Greek yogurt, protein shakes, overnight oats, fruit bowls, and of course boiled eggs.
- Physical Activity
Work on some of your physical goals by maybe getting a quick sporting session in, a workout, or a run. In the morning, it’s probably impossible for everyone to get all of these, but just getting some sort of physical activity in causes us to feel good about ourselves. It gives us satisfaction. It tells us that we’re a step closer to achieving our dream bodies, a step closer to running that race, or a step closer to scoring that last-minute goal.
- Shower
A quick shower is a great way to freshen you up for your day ahead.
- Learn
Instead of the usual music, on your way to work, college, or school, take time to either listen to or read about something knowledgeable. Of course, there are many more things you can add to your morning routine to make it even better, but these are those basic few you should really get down. If you can get these down, there’s no way your morning isn’t setting you up for success!
