Declining Academic Performance
COVID-19 had a huge impact on our lives, but it left a mark on students’ academic performance. Late Gen Z and Gen Alpha are extremely behind on their grade level and they’re not making the progress that they should be. Growing up with technology and learning at home made it extremely difficult to succeed. Kids no longer have the attention span to stay off their phones, so they aren’t paying attention in class and performing horribly in school. Late Gen Z doesn’t have it too severe as they still have room for improvement, but Gen Alpha is more permanent. When you get access to phones around 2nd grade and miss out on learning basic math and writing, it’ll be harder to learn it when you’re older because you need to understand it to pass algebra or write essays. Test scores are at their lowest point and teachers aren’t sure how to get their students involved.
