DESCRIPTION:Class/Workshop \n\n\n\nAt the high-school level\, nuclear concepts are rarely discussed in depth and usually in the much later chapters of chemistry and physics books. Teachers interested in exploring beyond these introductory concepts are invited to apply for our one-day workshop in Summer 2025 on the UT Austin campus. Teachers will receive 8 hours of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit and a personalized workshop certificate. The workshops are free and all meals will be provided. \n\n\n\nThe FREE workshop will include: \n\n\n\n– a tour and three introductory lectures in nuclear science and engineering including history of nuclear research\, basic radioactivity concepts and radiation and health physics\,– demonstration of three experiments in radiation statistics\, half-life measurements\, simple radiation shielding\,– take-home and classroom activities for K-12 student populations \n\n\n\nThe Summer 2025 workshop will be held on July 17\, 2025 from 9am-5pm.

SUMMARY:The Harvard Crimson 2025 Journalism Summit
DESCRIPTION:The Harvard Crimson’s CJS is a two-day hybrid event for high school reporters of all experience levels. Participants will engage in workshops\, simulations\, and seminars led by Crimson Editors and Executives across our content boards. Besides learning from experienced college journalists\, students will also have the chance to interact with professional journalists—namely\, notable Crimson Alumni from top publications such as the New York Times\, Wall Street Journal\, Washington Post\, and more. \n\n\n\nBy working with our editors as well as fellow attendees\, participants will improve their reporting skills\, further their interest in journalism\, and develop new ideas that they can then implement into their own newspapers. Central to our spring conference is growth; no matter their experience level\, journalists will strengthen and advance the reporting and writing skills necessary to effectively run a newspaper!

DESCRIPTION:Our April Drop-in Drawing sessions will be facilitated by a teaching artist and museum staff\, and will be held in Gallery 400: Trisha Brown/Gordon Matta-Clark. In addition to self-guided drawing prompts\, this session will feature short artist-led demos/lessons throughout the evening. \n\n\n\nExplore artworks through drawing in this relaxed drop-in session for all ages. Materials and seating are provided. Participation is open to all\, with no experience\, ability\, or reservations required. Drawing prompts will be available in English and Spanish. \n\n\n\nDrop-In Drawing is part of UNIQLO Friday Nights where MoMA is open late every Friday night\, and admission is free for all New York State residents!

DESCRIPTION:One of the essential but sometimes overlooked components of civic education is providing students with opportunities to develop the knowledge\, skills\, and dispositions to assume the role of citizen. We the People has been proven effective civic education programs by independent studies. We the People is available on three levels for upper elementary\, middle school\, and high school.  The workshop will familiarize teachers with the components and process utilized by the program and provide the information necessary to implement it effectively in the classroom. It will also prepare teachers to enter their classes in the optional We the People competition/showcase should they choose to do so. A free copy of the We the People book will be provided to participants.
