Halloween Costume Ideas

It’s officially October, that time of the year when the air gets chilly and the leaves turn orange. But most importantly, spooky season is here! Whether you plan on trick-or-treating or just dressing up for fun, finding the perfect costume for the year is a must. I’ve got you covered with some ideas I think would be super fun to try out!

1. Monsters

Who says classic monsters are out of style? You can never go wrong with the originals—consider Dracula, Frankenstein, Mummy, witches, or zombies! The beauty of it is that it doesn’t stick out too much, but you’re free to add your little twist to it if you please. Just don’t forget to perfect the makeup to sell it!

2. 90s Throwback

There are a bunch of great styles to put together from the 1990s. Make it loud, fun, and vibrant, and take inspiration from your favorite old shows. Some worth mentioning are the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Clueless, or any of the cast from Friends. You can buy pieces online, but your best bet is going through your local thrift store or your closet. You’d be surprised by some of the outfits you could make without spending much.

3. Disney

Everybody knows Disney characters, and there are so many to choose from depending on which you like. Maybe you’re more on the classic side and opt for those princesses and villains like Cinderella or Cruella de Vile. Or, you’d rather go for a traditional character, like someone from the High School Musical cast or the Twitches cast. Either way, they’re timeless favorites and make for a fantastic group photo.

4. Arcade Characters

TV entertainment isn’t the only entertainment you could take inspo from—in fact, video game characters are seemingly the most underrated when it comes to costumes, from what I’ve seen. So, take it among yourself and your friends to dress up as some of your favorites. Everyone knows Mario and Luigi, Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong. They’re super nostalgic but hilarious as well.

5. Pop Culture

Finally, one of my favorite ideas is the one that is most trending, of course! So in that case, some great costumes could be from the highest-grossing movie of the summer, Barbie, or from The Little Mermaid or Wednesday. Whether you’d rather grab a tail or a pink dress doesn’t matter to me. Some other iconic looks included those from Taylor Swift and Beyoncé’s concerts. Who knew the Renaissance and Era tour would deliver some killer outfits?

Regardless of what you end up choosing, Halloween is about letting all that creativity run loose. The most important thing is to have fun with your friends and make some lasting memories. So, grab your squad, get brainstorming, and make this year’s costume better than the last!
