Over-Sexualization of Young Black Women
The portrayal of black women could vary in 2 completely different perspectives, dehumanization or fetishization. The term “baby mama” is often connected to black women, especially in entertainment industries these roles are usually held by black women. Black women were compared to Jezebels during slavery because their sex gratification was aimed toward black women’s bodies permitting them to be raped.
This mindset also interferes with the black community and determines how they raise their daughters. Many black families treat their daughters older than they are, restricting them from wearing generic clothes that are even slightly revealing, like shorts. Mindsets like these teach them to be self-conscious of their body, and to over-sexualize themself; rather than teaching them to protect themself before blaming it on their body.
