Things You Should Do Before Going Into APs

Hi guys! Right now it’s AP week, time has flown by so fast…

We all have been dreading this moment (including me), but it’s finally here. Everybody has been stressing left and right, cramming in time to study, but here are some things you should actually be doing before going into your AP exams this week (or next week, if you have any).

  1. Make room two days PRIOR to practice some last minute problems, or a full practice test. When I say practice. Practice. You will get used to the style of questions the AP offers you or get used to pacing yourself if you’re writing.
  2. Review notes after your practice problems/tests, going over content that you are shaky with. This is crucial! Going back and reviewing can allow you to realize why you got something wrong, and rework out that question!
  3. Destress and take time for yourself the night before. Trust me. You do not want to be stressing yourself the night before the exam. At this point, studying too much will only put more pressure on yourself which can overwork you.
  4. Prep items you need for the exam. Make sure you have all the materials you need, including: pencils, pens, or calculator (if needed).
  5. Go to sleep EARLY and get a decent amount of sleep. This advice ties in well with number 3. I have experienced the feeling of struggling on tests after getting little amounts of sleep. Don’t do it. You’ll be super tired, stressed, and won’t have enough stamina to last you throughout those 2-3 hours while taking the test.
  6. Finally, stay hydrated and nourished the morning of your exam by eating a filling meal. Always remember to keep yourself nourished, as going into the exam on an empty stomach may make you have less energy.

Best of luck to everyone taking AP exams this week!
