Why You Should Walk to School

Believe it or not, walking to school has plenty of benefits. But, I get it—the last thing any kid would want to do is walk early in the morning on a Monday. However, after reading this short blog, I hope you’re convinced otherwise.

Time Management

Especially if you live farther from school, you’re probably going to have to wake up earlier than you typically do. How else would you get everything in your routine done? Well, that’s not quite true—you don’t necessarily have to set your alarm back an hour. If you stick with the same time, all that needs to be done is managing your time. Of course, you don’t want to be rushing, so maybe consider a couple practice runs during the weekend to master it. But this skill is essential for life; managing your time provides positive long-term effects.

Intermission

For me, I see walking to school as an intermission before entering school. It’s a period where I can either have a quality, relaxed conversation with friends or a music session with my favorite playlist. It’s calming, regardless of whether it might be freezing or burning hot out. This also connects back to the previous point: when you plan your time right and know that you’ll make it to school on time, you’re in no rush. And sometimes, while passing a store, treat yourself to an early breakfast snack. It is convenient, after all.

Staying Fit

Of course, last but not least, it is extremely healthy for you. This definitely applies to those who are exempt from sports or gym activities—which is not a problem—but this daily walk can do wonders. It helps you stay in shape, which is ideally what we want to achieve for long-term growth. Taking care of yourself is essential, and this simple task is the first step anyone can take.
